If you're currently struggling with heavy, large, or pendulous breasts, find ways to overcome the stress in your personal and professional life now. Although a number of women desire large breasts, some women find large breasts uncomfortable and even painful at times.
If your breasts make it difficult to wear the right bra or find confidence in your appearance, don't give up. Learn why your breasts hurt and how to solve it below.
Although your breasts consist of dense, fatty tissue, they still rely on Cooper's ligaments to hold them in place. The ligaments attach to the pectoral muscles covering your chest wall. If the ligaments stretch beyond their natural capacity, they can cause your heavy breasts to sag and droop over time.
A number of things may cause your Cooper's ligaments to stretch, including pregnancy and weight gain. Pregnancy and weight gain can cause additional fat to store within your breast tissue. Not only does the additional fat enlarge your breasts, it can make them feel heavy and pendulous, particularly when you jog or workout.
In addition to pregnancy and weight gain, wearing the wrong type of bra can also lead to breast discomfort. A large percentage of women currently wear the wrong bra cup or band size. If the bra cup or band is too small or too large, it can't support the weight of your breasts comfortably.
Now that you have some idea as to why your breasts hurt, you can do something about it.
If your breasts hurt because of weight gain or pregnancy, you may want to engage in an exercise plan that strengthens the muscles in your back, chest, and shoulders. Even if you lose weight, the muscles in your upper body could still be weak and loose. If you tighten the muscles, it may ease the tension in your Cooper's ligament.
Also, take time to find bras that support your breasts during all times of the day. The cup should contain the majority of your breast tissue, and the band should also fit comfortably around your back and rib cage. You should only be able to slip two of your fingersbeneath the band. You may need to customize the band to help it fit properly.
Along with choosing the right band and cup size, you can also select bras with large shoulder straps. Thin straps may dig into your skin and bruise the muscles beneath it. The pain may become bad enough to limit mobility in your arm and shoulder.
If your breasts still hurt after making the personal changes above, consider surgical breast reduction treatment. Breast reduction treatment allows a cosmetic physician to remove most of the fatty tissue from your breasts. A doctor may also remove saggy skin from your breasts during the surgery.
Before you undergo breast reduction treatment, a doctor will assess your physical profile and body type. The assessment allows a doctor to determine how much fat to remove from your breasts without compromising your overall appearance.
In addition, a doctor can use the assessment to see if you'd benefit from other breast treatment. For example, if your Cooper's ligaments are too loose to support your new breasts, a doctor may want to reposition or tighten them. In this case, breast lifting surgery may be an option for you.
If you wish to know more about surgical breast reduction treatment or lifting, speak to a cosmetic surgeon soon. Even if you buy the right bra or change how you exercise, your large breasts may still be a problem for you later.
