3 Cosmetic Procedures That Can Help With Tired-Looking Eyes

If your eyes appear tired all of the time, even when you have gotten plenty of sleep, then the cause may be the aging process. As everyone ages, their skin loses elasticity and facial fat stores begin to diminish and droop, leading to facial volume loss. This skin sagging and volume loss on the eyelids and around the eyes can lead to a tired eye appearance.
Thankfully, there are many cosmetic procedures that can address the signs of aging around the eyes to help you look well-rested, refreshed, and younger in appearance.
Read on to learn about three of the many cosmetic procedures that can help visually awaken those tired-looking eyes.
1. Tear Trough Fillers
Volume loss under the eyes that occurs with aging can lead to a crease or groove between the upper cheek and lower eyelid called a tear trough. This crease makes the space under the eye appear less smooth, and it creates a shadow under the eye that can make eyes appear less rested.
While a professional can eliminate tear troughs in a number of ways, one popular treatment is to use a facial filler injection in the tear trough. This filler smooths the area under the eye to eliminate the telltale tear trough crease.
While many filler types can erase tear troughs, most are not permanent. Oftentimes, you'll need a second treatment.
2. Eyelid Lift
Another cosmetic procedure that can make eyes appear younger and more rested is an eyelid lift, also called a blepharoplasty. During this procedure, the doctor will remove excess skin and fat from the eyelids to eliminate wrinkles and sagging skin and make eyelid skin appear more taught. Your doctor can perform this procedure on the upper or lower lids - or both.
Upper lid lifts typically begin with making an incision in the crease of the upper eye. Then, the doctor will remove any excess skin and fat. Afterward, they'll place several stitches in the crease where any incision scars left behind are unlikely to be seen.
When performing a lower lid lift, the doctor will make the incisions under the lower lash lines or on the inside of the lid. They'll then remove the excess skin and fat and place sutures. If you desire, the doctor can also add fat grafts to the lower lid during the blepharoplasty procedure to eliminate the appearance of tear troughs. Unlike tear trough fillers, the results of an eyelid lift are generally permanent.
3. Brow Lift
Sagging of the skin and muscles in the forehead and brows during the aging process can also contribute to the appearance of tired eyes. A brow lift can help eliminate these problems and provide a more rested appearance to your eyes and face.
While there are several types of brow lift procedures, two popular ones are coronal, or traditional, and endoscopic brow lifts.
Coronal (Traditional)
To perform a coronal brow lift, a cosmetic surgeon first makes an incision that starts at the top of one ear, spans across the top of the forehead just behind the hairline, and stops at the other ear. Then, they'll lift the forehead and brow skin and muscles and place stitches along the original incision site. You can achieve a dramatic lifting of the forehead and brow with this procedure.
Endoscopic
An endoscopic brow lift begins with three to five small incisions along the hairline. Your doctor will then insert the endoscope into the incisions and lift the forehead and brow tissues. Afterward, they'll close the incisions sites with sutures. While this process is less invasive than a traditional brow lift, it also produces less dramatic results.
